Neurotherapy Integation

What is Neurotherapy?

Neurotherapy is a safe, noninvasive, natural, and effective approach to mental health concerns that helps your brain regulate its electrical activity. While seemingly “newer” in the public sphere, neurotherapy is grounded in decades of research and is being constantly refined by the world’s leading researchers and medical & mental health practitioners. It consists of modalities of neurostimulation, neurofeedback, and qEEG brain mapping.

Beginning with a qEEG brain map, the initial assessment identifies the source of problematic brainwave activity. These patterns correspond to symptoms like anxiety, depression, focus issues, trauma, etc. Based on this data, we can identify specifically what your brain needs and how it can be optimized through training.

Tailored training protocols based on this data help your brain unlearn problematic forms of brainwave activity as well as learn more ideal forms of neural firing. Over time, your brain will begin to form & solidify new neural pathways to replicate this desired activity on its own, thus giving your brain (and yourself!), a sensation of calm, focus, flexibility, and freedom to live life as you desire.

During a neurotherapy program, your brain enters a state of neuroplasticity, meaning your brain is ready and eager to learn — whether it be a new language, visualization for a sport, or practicing how to speak more kindly to yourself!

Because of the brain’s enhanced capacity to make improvements, it is the perfect opportunity to complement your neurotherapy program with counseling and maximize your results!

Why Integrate Neurotherapy with Counseling?

  • As your brain makes new neural connections, your internal experience might feel new & unfamiliar.

  • You want to develop sustainable practices & rhythms that are unique to your brain “type.”

  • Neurotherapy may “unlock” old memories, new insights, or new desires that need further processing.

  • You want to harness & “make the most of” the improvements gained from neurotherapy.

How Does Neurotherapy Integration Work?

  • If you have completed a qEEG brain map assessment with another practice, you can share your brain map with me (via release of information) and we will review it together.

  • As an experienced EEG analyst & neurotherapy practitioner, I help you interpret your brain map findings so you can understand your brain characteristics & needs.

  • Together, we discuss your top goals and develop a tailored plan for pursuing those goals.

  • I can collaborate with your neurotherapy provider so everyone is on the same page and working together towards your desired goals.

The Path Forward

At the conclusion of a neurotherapy program (generally around 40 sessions), your brain will have created & solidified neural connections, meaning they are set and will not prune!

You may experience decreased anxiety, improved emotion regulation, more contentment, and even better sleep.

However, after a program, the “training wheels” are taken off as now you’re testing your balance in the “real world.” Now that your brain has the potential to take you anywhere you want, where do you want to go? What changes do you want for your life? How do you get there?

I have found in my work with clients that while modalities like neurotherapy can give you the tools and capacity to make long-lasting change, it is your intentionality & follow-through in the months following that are the most pivotal in “making the most of” those changes and embarking on the life that you want to live.

Whether you are looking to further enhance your improvements from neurotherapy or you are wondering what you want to do with this newfound capacity, I can help you discern those next steps.
