Good Faith Estimate: Under the federal No Surprises Act (HR 133, PL 116-260), healthcare providers need to give clients and patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for healthcare items and services. If you are uninsured or self-pay for services:

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like tests, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or contact this practice at (720) 460-0999.

Insurance

Click here to add your insurance and view your projected coverage for therapy.

In-Network Plans: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Colorado, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Medical Mutual of Ohio, Oscar Health, Oxford, Quest Behavioral Health, United Healthcare

Out of Network: For those wishing to utilize out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill after paying out of pocket for your therapy session for you to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

Medicaid/Medicare Notice: I do not provide mental health or therapeutic services for anyone enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare programs.

Disclaimer: You are responsible to ensure your health insurance covers your services. Please verify your health insurance coverage when you arrange your first visit and prior to each subsequent one.

Why Not Use Insurance If I Have It?: Insurance companies only cover services they determine as “medically necessary.” In order to meet insurance requirements, a therapist must submit a diagnosis and prove that this diagnosis significantly impairs the way you function, even if you do not meet criteria for a psychiatric disorder listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). This information will be listed on your permanent medical record.

Because of this, some individuals choose to not utilize their insurance benefits. It is ultimately up to you to discern whether or not to use your insurance benefits for therapy. I would be happy to discuss this in your initial consult call to help you make an informed decision regarding which option is best for you.
